4 Bollywood Movies That Might Surprise You This November
By Avik Basak
Also releasing in November is the Akshaye Khanna, Sidharth Malhotra and Sonakshi Sinha-starrer suspense thriller, Ittefaq, which hits the theatres in the first week of November. So, there is no shortage of desi films in the coming month. Which one of these are you looking forward to? Do you want to add something to the list? Please share in the comments section below.
While there are Hollywood biggies like Thor: Ragnarok and Justice League coming out next month, there are also a few Bollywood films hitting the screens which are made on low budgets, yet might surprise us with their content. Let’s take a look at these flicks, which look promising enough to compel us to head to the theatres:
Ribbon
The first among these four films is Ribbon, which is coming out in the first week of November. Directed by newcomer Rakhee Sandilya, the movie stars Kalki Koechlin along with Sumeet Vyas of Permanent Roommates fame. It tells the story of a young urban couple who finds out that they are going to have a baby and how they deal with the challenges of parenthood and how much their daily life and their relationship gets affected by it. Going by its trailer, the movie looks to have a lot of potentials.
Qarib Qarib Single
Releasing on 10th November, Qarib Qarib Single is a sweet romantic comedy. It stars one of the best acting talents of the country, Irrfan Khan along with Malayalam actress, Parvathy who is making her Bollywood debut with this one. The story is about two lonely singles who meet through a dating app and decides to set out on a journey to retrace their lives and ends up in the most eventful, strange, crazy trip they have ever experienced. Judging by the trailer, the movie looks like one roller coaster ride of fun and will surely make us laugh out loud inside the theatre.
Tumhari Sulu
If you are looking for a laughter ride, then Tumhari Sulu will be a perfect one for you to catch in the theatres. Releasing on 17th November, this movie stars Vidya Balan in the role of a beautiful and fun-loving Mumbai housewife, Sulochna or “Sulu” who out of nowhere lands herself an exciting job of a night-time RJ at a leading radio station, where she needs to chat with her listeners in a ‘sensual’ voice. Balan looks to be in an amazing form in the trailer and is once again ready to charm the audience with her acting skills. Directed by Suresh Triveni, the movie also stars Manav Kaul of Wazir fame who is portraying the role of Balan’s husband.
Firangi
Have you ever heard of any Indian who said the British and their rule were good? Maybe no, well, this film is about such a person called, Maanga, portrayed by Kapil Sharma who believes that the British rulers are not bad. Also starring familiar faces like Rajesh Sharma and Kumud Mishra, Firangi is releasing on 24th November. Although I have doubts about the execution of the movie’s concept and how that era will be portrayed, the story and Kapil's acting might warrant a watch for the cine-goers.
